Friday 22 February 2019. At 100 Arthur street downtown. The very heart of Winnipeg where the tall buildings and the lighted spaces there was Black space Winnipeg. The event scheduled to start at 9 pm with screening then the reception, People started coming in tens for the event. Kind of a stand, move around, get to meet people, talk about the movie kind of event. Interviews were going on, loud music in the background tables was set for drinks and light snacks. As at 7 pm, the first set of guest arrived chatting with fellow attendees at the event majority were being interviewed by Rêves Magazine after which the photo booth was the place to be. Taking pictures with plaques, props, etc. The festival was the place to get to meet like minded creative’s and get exposed to black film making. Creatives were littered all around the place, no matter what you do and where you are from you will for sure meet someone with a like mind ready to pull out the next big thing out there in the media world.
The whole event was really a place to be but the photo booth was everyone’s love. People just wanted to take more and more pictures with props. Moving into the theatre for the screening, the movie started at around 8:10 pm basically about the black culture. The movie went on for about an hour. Nevermind you wouldn’t want me to tell you all about it. Black culture seems interesting and fun for everyone who attended the screening. The interracial relationship seemed to be interesting at some point in the movie and everyone seemed to enjoy that. The movie was done at around 10 pm with lots of sighs. You may want to rent or buy it probably a cinema to see it your choice am not spilling. Music serenaded the place with a French rapper making everyone feeling good with his rhymes. The party just went on with everyone having fun enjoying the music of the night various songs swinging from the African vibe to the new sounds. People were left to talk about basically their life and works. What do you know you might inspire someone to probably do something maybe make the people of colour feel confident, loved and the culture enjoyed. In contrast, it was a night to embrace the diversity of culture and the black community. Next year we wait black space seems to surprise everyone. we wait to see what in stall next black history month.
