How I fell in love with music? 

I fell in love with music a long time ago. At a very young age, I had that feeling that I was either going to be a musician or a footballer. My brothers were all into that so it must have rubbed on to me. Back in secondary school, I would casually just sit in class during break and rap in front of my friends to whatever beat I could make on the table. Of course, I would forget the beat but it was something I had fun doing. It was more or less like a hobby to me at that time. I started doing it a lot more and that’s how I fell in love with it, that’s how I fell in love with music.

How did you overcome your environment to pursue your creativity?

Living in a house with my parents didn’t make it easy for me to be creative. It was an African household, and you know what most parents would say when they find out you’re into music, especially “rap music”; It’s not something they would be excited to hear about, they would much rather hear “I want to be a Doctor” or  “I want to be a Lawyer”. This made it hard for me to open up to them thus, making it harder for me to be creative around them. I had to keep it low key, which was close to impossible. Like how are you going to record without making a single sound? Or where are you going to get the funds to go to the studio from? My environment discouraged me from being creative. I had to improvise, so when I traveled to further my education, I used it as an opportunity to create a studio where I was. That way I could create whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. That was how I escaped my environment and started chasing my creativity.

What is creativity to you?

Creativity to me is the ability to create something unique; that is to say, you can create something new or recreate someone’s idea, but of course, when you’re recreating someone’s idea you have to give props to the original creator. For example, when Lil Wayne recreated the scene from the movie “Inception” and put it in his six foot seven foot music video. You don’t have to build a bridge or do some technical work to be creative, you can merely slide a ruler horizontally into a pen capped with a cover and it can be seen as being creative, creating a plane out of just a pen and a ruler.
